Gerlitzen Mountain is a special place for paragliding. It offers the best infrastructure for training and to improving your paragliding skills. Paragliding at Gerlitzen is famous for Safety Trainings, testings and develop your skills on the way to be an aerobatics pilot.

From the Fliegerbase landing it takes you 15 minutes to walk or 2 minutes to drive with the shuttle to the gondola. The gondola and the chairlift brings you up to 1990m within 30minutes. From the take-off to the landing is about 1400m height difference. You can reach the box (acro-glider in a straight line) over the lake with around 1000m elevation difference ;D

LANDING:

• The main landing area for solo (acro) pilots is at  St. Andrea Straße 2, 9520 Annenheim
   

• Right next to it, there is the landing field from the flight school.

Our meeting point is on the sports field, left to the landing area. You can enter it at the entrance of the "STRANDBAD", just say at the cashier that you are coming to GERLITZEN PARAGLIDING. Here is also our DEMO CENTER & SHOP (read below). The landing is abt 10 Minutes by car from the gondola. We offer a shuttle service every 30 Minutes to the gondola for 3€ per person. Althrough it is a bit further than the main solo landing field, it is a really nice flight where you cross the lake and can enjoy a cold drink and ice cream at a hot summer day, before you go for your next flight. OR a after landing beer in the evening ;).

TAKEOFF:

• The main takeoff is at the top of Gerlitzen (1900m). You need to take the gondola to the middle station and then the chairlift to the top. The best takeoff directions are EAST to SOUTH.

• It is also possible to fly with WEST wind, but TAKE CARE! With west wind conditions you need to cross the mountain on the lee side (turbulence). Also pay attention to the wind in the valley. If there is west wind at the landing you might not make it to the landing field and need to land in the lake ! 

• When there is NORTH wind it is NOT FLYABLE. 

• ​There is also one takeoff at the middle station (Kanzelhöhe). This is NOT FLYABLE with strong NORTH, WEST or EAST. It is a "Waldschneise" and therefore you should just takeoff with south wind, thermals coming up or no wind.

• The flight schools owns a takeoff at Ossiachberg, the "500". It is often used for hike and flies (500 altimeter, 1 hour hike), but please get in contact with the school before in order to get permission or purchase the "hike and fly - summer pass".

RULES

• Each landing has its own landing approach, please check those before you go up to the mountain.

• At the top of the mountain, it is forbidden to takeoff on the right side of the chairlift (west wind). 

• We strongly recommend to wear a swim west when training manoeuvres above the lake.

• The water rescue is in attention during the summer. Anyways especially in the pre season, it might take a few minutes until the water rescue is on the way, especially for this reasons, the life west is very important .

• The water rescue charges 150 € per water rescue.
